Teachers at John C. Myers Elementary recently experienced basic green screen use during an art activity day. As students completed craft stations, teachers took advantage of the transition time to learn from RCPS ITRTs Erin Branner, Priscilla May-Maiden, Erin Sauder, and Katie Ameigh about the app "Green Screen by Do Ink." Teachers took student pictures then made the students appear to be in a space suit on the moon. Great fun for the students and great learning activity for the teachers!
In another training during a county-wide elementary inservice day, teachers learned some of the fundamentals of the same iPad app, "Green Screen by Do Ink," in a session conducted by RCPS ITRTs, Bethany Deputy and Obe Hostetter. The ITRTs led teachers through various scenarios to illustrate concepts of incorporating video and images into the video product. At the end, Bethany and Obe then assembled their silly clips into an entertaining demo to illustrate the different methods.

With fundamental skills in hand, teachers then adapt use to their content area instruction in creative ways that engage the students and allow them to take control of their learning. Students create their own products to demonstrate understanding of subject content. Bethany has assembled a variety of instructional examples using Green Screen by Do Ink at her website.
Applications of this amazing tool abound!
